Traditionally, Yerba Mate is served in a hollowed-out gourd, but this version takes inspiration from a grapefruit (Pomelo). El Mate Pomelo was introduced to us by the Cardozo family in a traditional manner during a visit to Paola’s La Loma in Chilecito, La Rioja, Argentina.
The combination of grapefruit (Pomelo) and Yerba Mate creates a vibrant and refreshing flavor profile.
In Guarani, ZA means eye and PECA means to open, referring to opening the stomata of the leaf to slow down the oxidative processes of the plant. It is also about opening your eyes to other ways of producing, being, feeding, and recognizing oneself as part of a network of relationships. When you buy yerba mate from the jungle, you contribute to diverse, fair, and sustainable production systems. We produce yerba mate under the shade of the trees of the missionary jungle. To make a better world possible, Zapecá and be part of it. We work for agroecology, biodiversity, and the rooting of our communities to their territories. Yerba mate is identity, culture, and food. Producing justly and in harmony with nature is our commitment.
